By offering expertise, driving innovation, advocating for policies, and measuring impact, we aim to increase the number of school-based health centers and improve the quality of services they offer. Consulting Services We work with teams at every stage of SBHC development—from clients just beginning to identify an education partner to organizations seeking to improve existing SBHCs—to reach their school-based health care goals. Initiatives For more than 20 years, we have worked with our national, state, and local partner organizations on initiatives to promote best practices and improve school-based health providers’ capacity to respond to the health needs of children and adolescents. Resources Our free resources include videos, fact sheets, reports, groundbreaking research, recorded webinars, the latest news from the field, and more for anyone seeking to learn more about school-based health care. Toolkits Take a deep dive into key considerations, best practices, and examples from the field when implementing telehealth, oral health services, quality improvement, substance use prevention, and more. 2024 National School-Based Health Care Conference Registration is Now Open! WHO WE ARE What is school-based health care? All children and adolescents deserve to thrive. But too many lack access to health care because of their family’s income, lack of health insurance, or systemic inequities. School-based health care places health care where students already spend most of their time: in school. School-based health centers are partnerships between schools and community health organizations to offer care that includes but is not limited to primary care, mental health, oral health, and vision services. Contact us to start a project POLICIES Advancing policies to sustain and grow school-based health centers The School-Based Health Alliance advocates for federal legislation and administrative agency policies that support school-based health centers. Over six million children and adolescents across 49 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, have access to an SBHC. While these numbers reflect consistent growth of the model for more than 25 years, only a fraction of children and adolescents in need of these critical services are able to access an SBHC.
